About Hannover

The capital of the German federal state of Lower Saxony, Hannover is famous for its trade shows. It is particularly associated with the CeBIT IT fair and many other exhibitions. Hannover has relatively few historical buildings compared to other German cities, because it was bombed severely during World War 2 air raids.

Finance and insurance companies are very active in this city. Most of the tourists are visitors of trade shows. Therefore, there are an abundance of hotels. Still, they might be very busy during trade show seasons.

Hannover is known as the city where the best standard German is spoken. One can take magnificent walks in nature on the shores of the Maschsee Lake or in Marienburg. You can visit the Marienburg Castle, Hannover City Hall, Zoo, Herrenhausen Gardens, and many other attractions following the “Red Thread” in the city center. The Hannover International Airport is 11 km away from the center. Subway and train networks provide convenient public transport in the city.
