Keep in mind that the metro and metrobus can get quite crowded, especially during rush hour. If you have excess luggage then public transportation can be a troublesome alternative.

Taxis fares are affordable in general and there are a large number of registered taxis throughout the city. We recommend getting a taxi from an authorized taxi stop just to be safe. Located about 10 km from the city center, Mexico City International Airport, also known as Benito Juarez International Airport, is the busiest international airport in Mexico. Mexico City International Airport operates passenger services out of 2 terminals. The airport handled over 35 million passengers in 2015 and is Mexico’s busiest airport. There is an inter-terminal transportation system that connects both terminals. The Aerotren monorail system provides transportation between terminals for passengers who have a boarding pass. There are also inter-terminal buses that provide transportation between the terminals for all passengers and visitors. Keep in mind that the rail system is much faster than the bus.

Indira Gandhi International Airport is located 16 km from the New Delhi city center. Indira Gandhi International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. One of the easiest transportation alternatives to get to the city center from the airport is by using your hotel’s airport shuttle service. If your hotel does not provide an airport shuttle service then other methods of transportation include taxis, buses, or the metro.

The first thing we recommend you do when you land is exchange money into the local currency. We would recommend having local currency on you at all times. Taxi drivers or bus drivers tend to demand higher fares in foreign currency. If you have the local currency on hand you won’t face this problem.

Bus

The cheapest transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport is by bus. Most buses depart every 30 minutes and provide transportation to major parts of the city, such as Connaught Palace and the Interstate Bus Terminal. Buses depart from the airport terminals and take about 50 minutes to get to the city center.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available at the arrivals section of the terminals and they provide convenient transportation to the city center. There are 3 taxi operators at the airport that charge based on the kilometers traveled, Meru Cabs, Mega Cabs, and Easy Cabs. There are also fixed-rate taxis that provide transportation to the city center. For these pre-paid taxis you pay the fare at the taxi office first and are given a receipt that you hand to the driver once you have reached your destination. After you’ve paid the fare at the taxi office ignore any requests for additional payment made by the driver. A taxi to the city center will cost around 200-400 rupee.    

Metro

The most convenient method of transportation to get to the city center from the airport is by metro. The Airport Express metro line provides a quick commute to the city center, running every 3 minutes from the Airport Metro Station located at Terminal 3. A portion of this metro line runs above ground, giving you a brief tour of the city. The last stop on the metro linke in the city is the New Delhi Train Station. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center by metro and tickets can be purchased from ticket counters or automatic ticket issuing machines.

Indira Gandhi International Airport operates passenger services out of 2 terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 has been dedicated for special operations since 2010. There are plans for further expansion in the future.
